St. Augustine

Today is our last night before we get to our destination, Sarasota. Today is also mom and dad’s 38th wedding anniversary (August 27th). Mom thought she had booked a pretty nice place in St. Augustine and it wasn’t bad, but…..

This is the place mom booked and the word Old in the sign describes this place. It was nice and all but we had to climb stairs and lots of step ups and step downs. After mom checked us in, dad just brought up our beds and food and water, then mom and dad went out to explore. I know they went next door to the fancy hotel because they were hungry and wanted to celebrate with a drink. Chico and I wanted celebrate also so we started barking and barking. I understand the owner called mom and said we were distressed and they needed to come be with us. So mom and dad came back and told the owner that they thought it best if they found another hotel for all of us stay in. Luckily the owner said he was fine with that and wouldn’t charge us. Mom and dad were really happy because they liked the fancy hotel better.
Casa Monica is the fancy hotel mom booked us into. Much nicer to celebrate their anniversary!
This room was so much nicer than the other one, plus they had elevators and bell boys to bring up all of our stuff!
This hotel loves dogs and we could go any where. So we got to celebrate their anniversary dinner with them!
Happy Anniversary dad!
Happy Anniversary mom!
This is Flagler College right across from our hotel. It was originally built in 1888 by the industrialist and railroad magnate Henry Morrison Flagler as a hotel. It is considered one of the finest examples of Spanish Renaissance architecture and was one of the most exclusive resorts of its day.
This is another building that was across from our hotel. It was another hotel back in 1888 as you can see in the sign. It’s now a museum.

St Augustine was founded in 1565 and is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the United States. It’s another beautiful city that we have to come back to and explore more!

Tomorrow is the end of our vacation and our arrival in Sarasota. We will stay in a vacation rental until our house is finished in Lakewood Ranch.
