Yellowstone contains more than 10,000 thermal features and has the worlds greatest concentration of geysers, hot springs, mudpots and steamvents.
We have front row seats to see Old Faithful. We had to wait about an hour before she showed up.There she blows! Too bad the sky is still so hazy from the smoke. We met up with our friends Gatsby and Remington with their mom and dad Diane and Michael in Jackson and they will travel with us for the next couple of days. They have the same mode of transportation as we do, but their stroller is the bigger model. We then headed over to Prismatic Springs. Back in the stroller and onto the boardwalk we go.Such as strange sensation, first it’s hot like a steam bath, then the wind would blow and it would be cold. Then we got busted by the nice lady park ranger. She said dogs were not allowed on any of the boardwalks, even if we were in strollers. Oh well, there goes our fun. After the springs we drove through Hayden Valley where we were hoping to see the Bison and sure enough, there they were right along the roadway. The cars didn’t seem to bother them at all.
After Yellowstone, we headed to the Pahaska Tepee Resort (that’s how the internet referred to these lodgings). I wouldn’t call it a resort exactly, in fact quite the opposite. No internet, no TV and no air condition. Thank goodness we didn’t need the air condition as it started to rain big time. Mom only brought shorts with her, but luckily she had a jacket and raincoat because it was cold!
This is William Frederick Cody’s (aka Buffalo Bill) hunting lodge that he only used about 6 times. He then decided to turn it into a hotel.Meet Ron. He is impersonating William F. Cody. Since he is in a black suit, he is the business man and conducts business as William F. Cody. When he is in his show dress, like the paper statue, you can address him as Buffalo Bill
Tomorrow is a big day which will include Mount Rushmore.
